Inspired.

While on the wonders of Amazon, I found a book about printing and installations,  I really liked alot of the work in the book the one thing that really caught my eye was the prints done with perspex by Kaori Maki, the perspex is treated with paint stripper and bubbles when blasted with a hair dryer ( I doubt mine will ever be the same again)  then left to dry before printing. I also wanted to put it on the lightbox and I was so pleased I did as I got this wonderful projection which looks ancient maplike, I has some wonderful photographs taken by Ian Male which give the wall a curve, so it looks like the earth from the moon.

While playing with preserves I remembered that some liquids are heavier than others.

Food has been preserved in many different ways over many thousands years, I decided to preserve photographs and other bits and pieces in different things such as oil, glycerine, vinegar salt sugar and honey, I decided to test first ! worried that maybe salt and vinegar may damage the photographs. Thankfully there was no damage after a couple of weeks so I presume that nothing long term will harm.

I scanned in some photographs from my Moms photo albums, from my childhood and pictures of the family to use.

Recording Memories

My Mom has lots of photo albums full of our lives from her childhood, marriage, motherhood, to my sisters mine and my brothers lives aswell, it was amazing seeing these today, many I havent seen for years or not even known about.

I love this photo, especailly how cute my brother is HAHAHA

False Memory

Another Term another brief, using ideas from reading the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and doing a sound peice over the summer we are now taking on to the next level and progressing on to developing the ideas we have to something more.

So far I have looked into my own memories, I have taken photos of my childhood photos that are in my Moms collection. I chose to photograph these with a film camera as that was used in the first place, they are to be processed this week and will be interesting to see how they turn out, I will then photograph the photographs the images will be less perfect, like our memories. I dont want to use digital on this part of the progect I want to keep it old skool .
